Are the screw holes for mounting inserts tapped or will it require nuts on the back side to hold in the inserts?

I saw you mentioned that this will work without the rear rack mountings but this will reduce the load capacity - by how much? I'm considering using this for effect pedals which all told would be probably less that a total of 10 pounds. Thanks!

Does this also lock open? Is there another slide that locks in the open and closed position?
