How does the ratchet mechanism work. As far as releasing and setting.

These stays need to be first installed in your road case so they have a solid surface to push against to be effective.

Once installed, the ratchet inside has angled ‘teeth’ that lets you set the lid at five different heights.

To set the position, just open the lid until you hear or feel a click. This click means it is locked onto one of the ‘teeth’. 

To adjust or change position, gently lift the lid upward to release the catch, and move to the desired stop.

To close the lid, gentle push the lid a little bit further open first to release the rachet and then guide the lid down.
